Best Fragrance Oil Suppliers in the USA (2026): A Buyer's Guide

A quick checklist and six fragrance oil suppliers for American candle, soap and diffuser makers, from well known US suppliers to an overseas option.

Looking for fragrance oil suppliers in the USA? Most of them look alike at first. The real differences show up in the paperwork, the testing, the sample options and where your order ships from.

This guide gives you a quick checklist first, then five American suppliers worth a look, plus one overseas option. Every detail below comes from each supplier's own website, checked on 25 October 2026.

Quick checklist: what to look for

  • IFRA certificate: it shows the maximum safe amount of an oil for each product type. One oil can be fine in a candle and limited on skin. Our guide to IFRA categories explains how to read it.
  • SDS (Safety Data Sheet): you need it for safe handling and your own labels.
  • Phthalate free: many American makers and their customers now ask for it, so check that the supplier states it clearly.
  • Samples: test a few oils in your own wax or soap base before you buy in bulk.
  • Shipping location: a warehouse closer to you usually means lower shipping costs and quicker restocks.

Best fragrance oil suppliers in the USA

1. CandleScience

CandleScience was founded in 2003 and is based in Durham, North Carolina. Every fragrance oil is developed for performance in soy wax candles, and a large selection is also approved for soap and bath and body products. All of its fragrances are formulated without phthalates and follow IFRA standards, products are tested in its own lab, and it says it was the first in its industry to offer carbon neutral shipping on outgoing orders.

2. Bramble Berry

Bramble Berry is a soap making favourite from Bellingham, Washington, and fragrance oils have been part of its range since it opened in 1999. It now offers more than 200 fragrance oils that are skin safe, phthalate free and paraben free. Each oil is tested in cold process soap for discolouration, ricing and acceleration, and is checked again for scent after six weeks of curing. Its online fragrance calculator shows IFRA usage rates for each product type.

3. Nature's Garden

Nature's Garden is in Wellington, Ohio. It was founded in 1997 by a candle maker and began selling supplies in 1999. It is best known for a huge fragrance library of more than 900 scents. Product pages list the SDS, IFRA guidelines and EU allergen documents, with suggested usage rates for candles, soap, lotion and room scenting.

4. Wholesale Supplies Plus

Wholesale Supplies Plus is based in Independence, Ohio, and was started in 1999 by a soap maker. It describes itself as the home of the largest ready to ship selection of soap, skincare, candle and home care supplies. Its fragrance range includes its own Crafter's Choice brand and a dedicated phthalate free collection for soap, candles, lotions, perfumes and personal care.

5. Lone Star Candle Supply

Lone Star Candle Supply was established in 1999 by a father and son with hands on candle making experience. The family business grew from a single Texas warehouse into five US warehouses in Texas, California, Indiana, Pennsylvania and Florida, with free local pickup at every location for qualifying orders. It carries hundreds of fragrance oils for candles, soap and home scenting, with phthalate free, gel safe and non discolouring options clearly labelled, plus sample packs for testing.

6. Aroma Labs (overseas option, ships from Dubai)

If you are open to buying from outside the USA, Aroma Labs makes fragrance oils in Dubai and ships worldwide, including to the US. In stock oils have no minimum order, and packs run from 100 ml to 50 kg, so you can start small and scale up. 10 ml samples cost AED 45 (about USD 12), and IFRA, SDS and CoA documents are available on request.

You can browse the full fragrance oil range or email ankit@aromalabs.store with questions. Before ordering from any overseas supplier, check delivery times and import charges for your own address. Our guide on buying fragrance oils from an overseas supplier covers what to ask.

How to pick the right one

Start with what you make. Candle makers want strong hot and cold throw. Soap and skincare makers need oils whose IFRA certificate allows skin use at the level they plan to use.

Then order samples from two or three suppliers, test them in the same base, and compare the results side by side. The best supplier is the one whose oils work in your product, with documents you can rely on.

FAQ

Do US fragrance oil suppliers provide IFRA certificates and SDS?

Established suppliers do, usually on the product page or on request. If a supplier cannot send an IFRA certificate and SDS, look elsewhere.

Can I use candle fragrance oil in soap?

Only if the IFRA certificate allows it for that category and at that level. Always check the certificate for each oil.

Can I buy fragrance oils from outside the USA?

Yes. Ask for the IFRA certificate and SDS first, and check delivery time and import charges before you place a bulk order.

How much should I buy first?

Start with samples or the smallest pack, run your test batches, then move to bulk once you are happy with the scent and performance.
