Best Fragrance Oil Suppliers in Europe (2026): A Buyer's Guide

A quick checklist and six fragrance oil suppliers for European candle, soap and perfume makers, from Grasse houses to small shops and an overseas option.

Plain amber glass fragrance oil bottles, white soy candles in glass jars and handmade soap on a rustic wooden workbench in a European workshop, with lavender, a kraft shipping box and a window view of old town rooftops and a church spire.

Looking for fragrance oil suppliers in Europe? The choice runs from Grasse perfume houses to small candle supply shops. The real differences show up in the paperwork, the pack sizes and how easily they can ship to you.

This guide gives you a quick checklist first, then five European suppliers worth a look, plus one option from outside the EU. Every detail below comes from each supplier's own website, checked on 27 October 2026.

Quick checklist: what to look for

  • IFRA certificate: it shows the maximum safe amount of an oil for each product type. One oil can be fine in a candle and limited on skin. Our guide to IFRA categories explains how to read it.
  • SDS and allergen declaration: in the EU you need them for CLP labels on candles, wax melts and diffusers, and for any cosmetic safety assessment.
  • Samples: test a few oils in your own wax, soap or perfume base before you buy in bulk.
  • Pack sizes: check the smallest and largest pack, so you can start small and scale up with the same supplier.
  • Shipping and VAT: buying inside the EU is usually simpler. From outside the EU, check delivery times, duties and import paperwork first.

Best fragrance oil suppliers in Europe

1. Aroma Nova (Germany)

Aroma Nova GmbH is a fragrance developer based in Hirschaid, Bavaria, with more than 20 years of experience. It offers more than 500 fragrance compositions for candles, wax melts, soap, reed diffusers, perfume, cosmetics and home care. You can order 10 g samples, then 100 g and 1 kg packs, with 10 kg production packs on request. IFRA certificates, SDS and allergen information are available depending on the product, and it ships from Germany to many EU countries.

2. Terre de Bougies (France)

Terre de Bougies has supplied candle makers since 2012 from its base in Alsace. Its catalogue has more than 500 fragrances made in Grasse for candles, wax melts, reed diffusers and home cleaning products, plus waxes, wicks and containers. Each candle fragrance ships with its SDS and allergen report, and professional packs start from 10 kg per fragrance.

3. Robertet (France)

Robertet is an independent fragrance and flavour group that started in Grasse in 1850. It is best known for natural raw materials and creative perfumery, sourcing naturals from around 60 countries. It is a fit for established perfume and cosmetic brands that want a custom fragrance and a long term partner, not for small first orders.

4. Proquinat (Spain)

Proquinat has made and distributed waxes and paraffins from Barcelona since 1995, and it also supplies candle fragrances to companies across Europe. Its own setup is built for orders of 500 kg or more, with permanent stock and technical advice. For smaller quantities, it points buyers to its Naturcera online shop.

5. Irish Candle Supplies (Ireland)

Irish Candle Supplies is a small candle making shop in County Cork, started so that Irish makers could buy everything in one place. Its fragrance oils are made in the UK or Europe, IFRA compliant and free of phthalates and parabens. Each oil links to its SDS, IFRA certificate, allergen declaration and CLP information for candles and wax melts.

6. Aroma Labs (outside the EU, ships from Dubai)

If you are open to buying from outside the EU, Aroma Labs makes fragrance oils in Dubai and ships worldwide. In stock oils have no minimum order, and packs run from 100 ml to 50 kg, so you can start small and scale up. 10 ml samples cost AED 45, and IFRA, SDS and CoA documents are available on request.

You can browse the full fragrance oil range or email ankit@aromalabs.store with questions. Before ordering from any supplier outside the EU, check delivery times and import charges for your own address. Our guide on buying fragrance oils from an overseas supplier covers what to ask.

How to pick the right one

Start with what you make and how much. Hobby and small candle makers do well with shops that sell samples and 1 kg packs. Growing brands want production packs and full documents. Large factories and perfume brands can talk to houses that work in hundreds of kilos or build a custom scent.

Then order samples from two or three suppliers, test them in the same base, and compare the results side by side. The best supplier is the one whose oils work in your product, with documents you can rely on.

FAQ

Do I need an allergen declaration for candles sold in the EU?

Usually yes. Scented candles and wax melts need CLP hazard labels, and the SDS and allergen declaration from your supplier are what you use to work them out.

Can I buy from a supplier outside the EU?

Yes. Ask for the IFRA certificate and SDS before you order, and budget for shipping, duties and VAT on arrival.

How much should I buy first?

Start with samples or the smallest pack, run your test batches, then move to bulk once you are happy with the scent and performance.
